Blog EntryPicture Perfect ~ "Safe"Apr 24, '08 9:42 PM
for everyone

There is a robin's nest in one of the Fraser Fir trees in my yard, and I've been delighted, watching the pair build the nest over the last several days. Now there must be eggs in the nest,as they have been taking turns sitting on the nest, and are very protective of it,chasing squirrels and jays, and generally getting upset at anything that comes too close. I am excited! I can't wait until they hatch,as I will risk a peck on the nose to get a picture of those babies! For now, though,I am keeping my distance, and so this picture of the female keeping her eggs safe ,was taken from across the yard. It bugs me that the branch is sticking up and obscuring her face, but I really couldn't do much about it. But,anyway, here is my entry for Picture Perfect ~ "SAFE." If you want to post a picture,go to this page, leave a comment, and  the link to your post so others can come and leave a comment on your page.

It is actually quite sweet how the face is obscured.I bet the bird knew that it would provide extra protection - plus of course there are those darn paparrazi to hide from!
You really do produce great shots.

The eggs are definitely safe and sound within the nest, with parents incubating them. Hope you'll be the granny to lots and lots of little ones. nice photograph and take on theme.

What a great picture! We have robins nesting nearby as well, and they come to yard to feed. My cat tries to catch them, but they are ever so on guard, and she never gets near enough to them. Sometimes it is like they are teasing her, in fact, and then laughing as they fly away. Thanks for dropping by and leaving me a nice comment. We need to get Moonie doing this too... she takes GREAT photos!!
